BREADY-MADE

Product Design 2019
Bready-Made
Bready-Made is a collection of four plates made of bread, covered in resin. The project’s goal is to raise donations, with a minimal budget, for the Italian non-profit Pane Quotidiano.

Project in partnership with Alessia Lapio, Zaha Mango, Iliyana Nincheva, and Giorgio Piva for our Social Design course in collaboration with the charity organization “Pane Quotidiano”. Supervised by Elisabetta Boi.

After visiting Pane Quotidiano’s location in Viale Toscana, and analyzing their system of donations and financial plan, we resulted in a project that aims to increase their financial flow and awareness regarding their social responsibility towards people in need.
Since “Pane” in Italian means bread, we decided to use stale bread that bakeries can no longer sell as our project’s main material. We gave it a new purpose by covering it with resin. The final result is a tableware collection that includes a plate, two fruit/ aperitivo bowls, and a small serving bowl.

What makes this project interesting is that any bread is suitable to be covered with resin. Therefore bread waste would be up-cycled and hopefully reduced.
